How to Increase Traffic to Your Blog?
There are a million ways for you to increase traffic to your blog. I'm sharing with you some of the things that I've done myself and has been proven effective in drawing people to my blog.
Submit your Website/Blog's URL to Search Engines
You might think that after setting up your blog or website, you can just sit back, relax and just watch visitors and money pouring into your website. You're wrong. With billions of blogs and websites out there, you'll find a couple of thousands of people writing about the same topics you discuss on your blog. If you don't submit your URL to search engines, you'd be lucky if you even get one hit from popular search engines like Google.
It's very easy to submit your blog or website to search engines. This is very important because it will boost your search engine ranking.
To make it easier for you, I have the links below on how you can submit your URL to different search engines. I suggest you prepare the following information on a text file so you can just copy and paste them whenever you need them:
* Your blog/website URL
* Your blog/website's description or title
* Tags, labels or topics related to your blog/website (example: make money online, paid to click, affiliate program, etc)
Two of the most popular and used search engines are Google and Yahoo!. So, just click on the links below and it'll lead you to the form where you can submit your URLs directly.
* Add your URL to Google
* Submit your Site to Yahoo!
Submit your Website/Blog's URL to different Blog/Site Directories
This is one of the most effective ways for you to get more traffic to your blog. Why? Because these sites actually have higher page ranks or SERP (Search Engine Results Page) ranking than your sites so it's best that you submit your blog to them and make sure that your blog is categorized properly. PLUS, if your blog is not yet indexed by Google, these directories should help you appear on Google's search results.
Here are a few of the most popular Blog/Site Directories where you can submit your blogs:
# Blog Catalog
# Mybloglog (You can login using your Yahoo! account)
# Technorati
# Yahoo! Directory (details on how you can submit your site to Yahoo! Directory)
# Blog Toplist
# TopBlogs PH
Get a Twitter Account & Twit Away!
Yes, believe it or not, Twitter can help you get more traffic to your blog or website. It's so easy to join and setup your Twitter page. And it's very easy to send updates to everyone following you. Plus, this also helps you with your Google SERP (Search Engine Results Page) rank.
Having a Twitter account can also help you when your blog or site is not yet indexed by Google or other search engines. You simply tweet your blog or site's address and it should come up on Google momentarily.
Sign Up With Traffic Exchange Sites
Traffic exchange sites work like this: you visit other sites, submit reviews of their blogs and you get other people visiting yours, too. They sometimes have a fixed ratio like if you visit 1 blog submitted to them, you'd get 1 visit. Basically, clicking or visiting others' sites earn you credits that is used to Also, you'd get credits by submitting reviews of other people's blogs.
Here are 3 of the best Traffic Exchange Sites that you can try:
* LinkReferral - This is the best traffic exchange site for me. I've observed that the members are more inclined to post reviews and visit your site. And I like that your blog is categorized so it'll be easier for you to get a higher ranking. Also, your ranking is based on how active you are on their site.
* TrafficSwarm - Same as LinkReferral. However, it's pretty easier to earn credits here. Also, you need to earn 50 credits for them to consider you an activated TrafficSwarm member. This is their way of making sure that only those who actually use their program are the ones that will only get traffic from their site.
* EasyHits4U - They offer 1:1 ratio - meaning when you visit a site, you get 1 credit or 1 visit to your site. I also like that their site is very user-friendly.
Subtle Advertising in Forums, Message Boards, etc.
This is another effective way of getting visits to your website. However, be very careful not to flood the forums or message boards with nonsense posts so people won't see you as a spammer and you won't get banned.
Now, when I said "SUBTLE advertising", I meant it. Well, it's not really subtle anymore since a lot of people are doing this and almost everyone's aware of this, but you only post your site or blog's address in your signature in the forums/message boards. There are certain forums that are strict about this - some don't allow their members to post any URL in their signature, some don't allow it until you reach a certain # of posts. So, make sure you read the rules and guidelines of the forums/message boards you're joining to avoid getting banned.
Again, I'm recommending that you join myLot. Not only will you be able to post your referral links or your blog or website's address, you also earn by doing so! They pay you for being active on their site like posting in the forums, doing tasks, etc. Great, huh?
Visit Other Websites/Blogs & Post Comments
This is yet another way that I know is very effective in getting much needed traffic to your site. However, like any other method I posted here, there's one very important rule that you need to observe, just like when you join forums or message boards.
DO NOT SPAM.
Simple, right? I know you hate spam like everyone else so I don't really need to explain this, right?!
Make sure your comments are relevant to the topic of the blog post and don't just copy and paste your URL there. Also, don't just post comments everywhere. Only post comments when you're really interested or you can relate to the topic. It's really irritating when you read nonsense or off-topic comments so please avoid it at all times.
Advertise Your Blogs/Sites at PTC Sites
Use up your click exchange or traffic/advertising points/credits from your PTC accounts. It's actually the cheapest and easiest way to advertise your site or blog. A lot of people are doing it. Now, be careful if you have advertising from ad networks such as Google Adsense because they consider advertising at PTC sites as against their policies. You might end up getting your Adsense account suspended.
Although advertising at PTC sites is the cheapest, 90-98% of the time, you'd get visits from people that will only last for 10-30 seconds. Why? Because most PTC members don't actually read the sites they visit. So, if you're really thinking about seriously advertising through PTC sites, make sure your blog or site's design is really eye-catching. That's my weakness.
Sign Up With Entrecard and Drop Away!
Entrecard has been around for years now and it's providing members a convenient and inexpensive way of advertising or promoting their blogs. There are millions of Entrecard users out there who visit and drop their Entrecard on other members' blogs. So, it will definitely help you boost your traffic.
However, like advertising in PTC sites, some Entrecard users will just visit your blog to drop their Entrecard and leave without even looking at your contents. So, again, try to make your blog's design eye-catching.
Also, another way to get traffic through Entrecard is dropping cards yourself. This might be time-consuming, though, but it's still a very effective technique in generating unique hits to your blog. Take me for example. Most of the time, I check out who's been dropping Entrecard on my blog and I visit them to drop mine. And, about 50% of the time, I get hooked by the blogs I see. So, keep your contents and design interesting, eh?
Post Ads at Free Ad Networks
This is another sure-fire way to get more traffic to your blog. These ad networks have higher page ranks than your blog so if you post a free ad on their site, most likely, you'd get people visiting your blog when they search for a certain keyword or tag that you used to setup the ad.
Also, make sure that the free ad you post looks interesting. Don't just post a whole block of text. Post some images and try to be catchy with your texts.
I'm highly recommending you post a free ad on Sulit. Based on my observation, whenever I search for anything on the web, Sulit ads are always on the first page of the search results. So, I'm highly recommending you post an ad on Sulit. It's free, anyway.
I've already tried almost all of the techniques and tips I've listed here. Now, it's up to you if they'll work for you, too, or not.
If all else fails, sign up as my referral to one of my PTC sites and I'll be glad to post your blog's address to my Blogroll.
